Bodyscapes Weight lost program:

You cannot outrun a cheeseburger.    What you eat really counts!. While exercise may not contribute directly to weight loss, it is critical for maintaining a healthy weight, since it helps calibrate the balance between energy taken in and energy burned off.

Metabolic Resistance Training

We're using good nutrition and resistance training as the cornerstone of our fat loss programming. Our goal is to work every muscle group hard, frequently, and with intensity that creates a massive "metabolic disturbance" or "afterburn," leaving the metabolism elevated for several hours post-workout.

Here are studies to support this:

Schuenke MD, Mikat RP, McBride JM. Effect of an acute period of resistance exercise on excess post-exercise oxygen consumption: implications for body mass management.
European Journal of Applied Physiology. March 2002, Vol 86 (5): 411-7. Epub 2002 Jan 29.

This study used a circuit training protocol of 12 sets in 31 minutes. EPOC was elevated significantly for thirty-eight hours post-workout.
Thirty-eight hours is a pretty significant timeframe for metabolism to be elevated. If you trained from 9 to 10 a.m. on Monday morning, you're still burning more calories (without training) at midnight on Tuesday!

Another study:

Kramer, Volek et al. Influence of exercise training on physiological and performance changes with weight loss in men.
Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, 1999, Vol. 31, No. 9: 1320-1329

Overweight subjects were assigned to three groups: Diet-only, diet plus aerobics, diet plus aerobics plus weights. The diet group lost 14.6 pounds of fat in 12 weeks. The aerobic group lost only one more pound (15.6 pounds) than the diet group (training was three times a week starting at 30 minutes and progressing to 50 minutes over the 12 weeks).
Now, the weight training group lost 21.1 pounds of fat (44% and 35% more than diet- and aerobics-only groups respectively). The addition of aerobic training didn't result in any real world significant fat loss over dieting alone.
Thirty-six sessions of up to 50 minutes is a lot of work for one additional pound of fat loss. However, the addition of resistance training greatly accelerated fat loss results.

SPORTS SPECIFIC TRAINING:

Our sports specific programs train movement not muscles.
Whether it is football, soccer, golf, tennis: or you are training for a marathon, we incorporate brain plasticity training , speed work, coordination drills, eyes and balance.protocols.    If you follow our 3 month program, we guarantee you will get results.
OUR program is specific and thorough. But what separates Bodyscapes from other programs is that it includes PLAY and cross-training. Play is important to sports performance. Play has a biological place just like sleep and preparation to sports performance. From diet to posture; from sprint drills to vision work, our movement drills include it all. "Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going." -Jim Ryan

Recent research verifies that are brain can altered by environmental stimulation and brain changing techniques involve new experiences combined focused movement.

from Wikipedia.org

If you have a movement problem, you need to find out whether you are putting on the wrong brakes, or whether you are not using enough gas…”.

Bodyscapes’ brain therapy programs unlocks the necessary tools for you to learn to move efficientcy. Our challenge as movement coaches is to use our knowledge of physiology and psychology to help you function and move optimally and pain free. If you asked 100 people what a brain is for, at least 99 of them would quickly respond, “to think with.” But the reality is a brain isn’t there for us to think; it is there for us to move. Plants, trees, bacteria, and fungi are not capable of independent motion; therefore, they have no need of a brain. You have probably heard that fish is brain food, but the nourishment our brains really crave is movement. Our program tries to give you a balance between exercise and play, stability and mobility and tension and relaxation.
