WHY BODYSCAPES?
WHAT MAKES BODYSCAPES ANY DIFFERENT THAN ANY OTHER GYM OR FITNESS CENTER?
WHY BODYSCAPES? WHY NOT MORE MACHINES?
WHEN PEOPLE FIRST ENTER A GYM, THEY ARE INTRODUCED TO THE "greatest weight equipment".
It is not about the equipment at Bodyscapes. We have a few pieces. But why don’t we have a chest press machine? Why not a leg extension or leg curl machine? Most fitness facilities have row after row of “selectorized” equipment pieces that for large numbers of unsupervised people are fairly user friendly and reasonably safe. They are not nearly as effective as the exercises your Bodyscapes' trainer will put you through during you time at the Bodyscapes wellness haven.
Bodyscapes specializes in sports specific and functional training that challenges multiple muscle groups through the nervous system. The nervous system needs training as much as, if not more, than your muscles. On “club machines” you can sit, lean over a pad, grasp some handles, pull your arms towards your ears and you are working your biceps. When our clients do a standing dumbbell curl on a balance beam, they are working those same biceps, but their abdominals, gluteals and back muscles also are working tremendously to keep them on the balance beam. And of course, the nervous system is working over-time to coordinate this whole movement.
Another example of the difference between Bodyscapes and ALL MACHINE WORKOUTS is the seated chest press machine. This apparatus has you sitting in a leaning position while pushing your arms out to a locked elbow position. The movement will work the chest, shoulder and arm muscles, but that is it. When a Bodyscapes client does a chest press using a stability ball or on the weightlifting bench, they are working those same muscles, as well as the abdominals, back and hip muscles. Of course, all this is possible thanks to the nervous system.
Recent studies in Gerontology have indicated that increased neurological stimulus into our golden years is vital to the maintenance of long term, mental activity, as well as maintenance of our diminishing motor skills. Another “extra” benefit of using functional training is that the greater number of muscles stimulated for the number of exercises you do, the higher the caloric demand!
This means that there is more calorie-burning bang for your time-spent buck. What we are trying to say, if you want to see big machines go to a John Deere or a Harley Davidson dealer. If you want an effective workout,
come to BODYSCAPES!
